It's Asteroid Flyby Friday!

Did you know today, February 15th, that asteroid DA14 make a close pass of the earth?  It will be the closest known approach by such a large near earth asteroid.  DA14 is about 150 wide or about half the size of a football field.  At it's closest it will be 17,200 miles from Earth's surface on Friday at 2:24 p.m. EST.  That puts it closer to earth than our own satellites!  No fear though, the statisticians at NASA have determined it has no chance of actually hitting the planet now, or far into the future.
