Have you heard of Friends for Change? Disney’s Friends For Change (FFC) started in 2009 as an environmental program for which Disney stars encouraged fans to take action. The original campaign featured public services announcements from Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez and more. Caroline Sunshine and Roshon Fegan are a part of the new effort to spread the word about the FFC expansion. The Shake It Up stars are publicizing the updated program with a new television spot that premiered on Thursday, January 19th.
FFC is broadening efforts to not only help the planet, but to also make a positive impact on the people and animals that live on it. The program aims to inspire people to get together with their friends and family to be stewards of change in their own communities and throughout the world.
Kids and families can pledge to make a number of daily changes, and also to band together for larger initiatives. Some ideas include organizing a food drives, planting gardens, volunteering at local shelters or creating programs to acknowledge positive influences in the community.
As part of the initiative, kids have the ability to choose how Disney will invest in various social causes. Disney, in collaboration with Youth Service America (YSA,) is also offering grants to those who establish their own programs.
