Noticed that your tweets are hitting max characters a little sooner than they were yesterday? It's not just you, Twitter has limited the number of characters a Tweet with links may have to 118. Https url? Then the Tweet is limited to 117 characters.
These changes were first announced months ago, and are just now going into effect. The changes has to do with how Twitter's link shortening service t.co handles urls. Now the t.co links will have a few more characters in them, taking up a few more precious character slots of your Tweet.
Keep in mind this only applies to Tweets with links in them. No link in your Tweet? No problem you still get to use the full number of characters available in your Tweet.
