On June 1, viewers watched the premiere of the second season of HGTV’s “My Yard Goes Disney.” The show brings the best of Disney theme parks to otherwise regular backyards. Viewers can now enter the HGTV Summer Memories Sweepstakes to win a sensational trip for four to Disney theme parks.
The host of HGTV’s “My Yard Goes Disney,” Brandon Johnson, helps create stellar outdoor living spaces on HGTV’s “Get Out, Way Out,” and gets behind the wheel of impressive recreational vehicles as the host of the HGTV special “RV 2012.”
Johnson is known for appearing as quirky host Gary Wilde on the Disney hit sitcom, “Shake It Up.” He also played the recurring character Brian Winters on “Hannah Montana.” He has a youthful spirit that is perfect for the entertaining makeovers on HGTV’s “My Yard Goes Disney.”
In a press release, HGTV general manager Kathleen Finch stated, “This effort between Disney and HGTV is about creating spectacular backyards that are fun hang-out spots for the whole family.”
The premiere episode on June 1 focused on the family of Geo and Gwen Morales and their two daughters. As the kids spent time with their grandmother, Geo and Gwen welcomed HGTV and Disney to transform their backyard into an adventurous place for their daughters’ imagination to run wild.
Brandon and the design team installed a fairytale village inspired by Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom Park. They included the toparies of the Fantasia Gardens and a miniature golf course. The backyard also had playhouses and castles fit for Disney princesses along with personalized trains.
This week on HGTV’s “My Yard Goes Disney” the focus was on the We family. The family loves the Disney Dream and Castaway Cay. HGTV created We Cay, a sandy beach with a 40-foot long boardwalk right in the family’s backyard. The Wes also got a new lagoon pool, a bridge leading to their private island and water features inspired by Nemo. To make it even better, the parents got their own private cabana.
